Arts Enrichment For All’s “Mighty Me” program promotes healthy living
Fresno County’s Arts Enrichment for All advised young students on living a healthier lifestyle through their arts education program focused on serving those living in the lowest quartile of the California Healthy Places Index. The program offered an in-depth curriculum on general healthy practices, funded by the KDACC grant. The “Mighty Me!” curriculum, available in English and Spanish, is designed to promote healthier lifestyles from the inside out.
The “Mighty Me!” curriculum spanned four weeks and was tailored to teach children, ages 3-8, the value of maintaining both physical and mental health through artful ways that taught hygiene practices, healthy eating, building relationships, and self-care.
With additional support from a two-year Artists in the Schools Grant from the California Arts Council and in partnership with the Fresno County Office of Education, Arts Enrichment For All reached nearly 12,000 people in the Central Valley. The program offered its healthy body curriculum through creative movement, dance, and music modalities, aligned with developmental and educational standards. It ran for four consecutive weeks at each participating in 38 public school sites and was a fiscally sponsored program of the Fresno Arts Council.

The Arts Enrichment For All program provides a nurturing environment for young students across the Central Valley to engage in the visual and performing arts away from screens. The “Mighty Me!” curriculum aims to empower young students with the knowledge and skills needed to cultivate healthy lifestyles practiced both in the school environment and at home. One specific lesson in the curriculum involves healthy eating practices, where children engage in a dance to the song “Fruit Salad” and then assemble a delicious and fresh fruit salad to enjoy.
Encouraging young students to develop and maintain healthier eating habits is widely recognized as crucial for their overall well-being and long-term health. The “Mighty Me!” curriculum is designed to educate students about the importance of taking care of their health from a young age.
