Get out of your comfort zone and go on a cultural journey through the heart of Central California as we bring you a selection of free events from 20 dynamic artists and organizations. Whether your passion lies in dance, visual arts, music or beyond, this calendar is your gateway to a diverse array of enriching experiences.
The week-long event takes over Bakersfield for the premiere of 5 new films with Bakersfield residents and California guest artists. Opening with a parade of video trucks accompanied by a 30 person choir creating a dance and music processional moving through the streets inviting audience members to join. Throughout the week the films will be screened in businesses along 18th Street. The event closes with another processional at the EarthDay661 Festival in Yokuts Park.

The Lamont Boys & Girls Club will host an Earth Day Fair on Monday, April 22, 2024, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. to celebrate environmental awareness and promote sustainable practices. One of the highlights of the Earth Day Fair is the community screening of “The Air We Breathe.” This locally produced short film is a testament to the Lamont Club Teen Program’s advocacy efforts for air quality improvement. This activity is supported in part by the California Arts Council, a state agency, and Kern Dance Alliance, a nonprofit corporation. Learn more at kdacreativecorps.org.
