Led by one of our Demi Dance teachers\, Julieta Ortega\, watch as these young dancers tell the story of Demi Dance through the dance steps they’ve learned in their last eight weeks of classes! \nABOUT DEMI DANCE\nDemi Dance is a program that offers free dance classes through dance studios located in low quartile neighborhoods on the Healthy Places Index in central California. This gives children an opportunity to go to an actual dance studio\, and learn dance through storytelling and original music designed to celebrate diversity and inclusion all while teaching true ballet and dance techniques through the characters in the story. In August of 2023\, we hired and trained six Demi Dance teachers over three counties and each teacher participated in learning the Demi Dance curriculum\, some of which are Spanish speaking teachers. \nThe Demi Dance program also uses many ancillary tools like the teacher training curriculum\, a 4-part children’s book series that follows Demi the Duckling on her dance adventures\, an entire original Music Album to accompany the class and stories\, and a Youtube Channel so children can practice bite-size lessons at home. \nIf you want to learn more about what these children are learning in class\, subscribe to the @demidanceclass Youtube Channel!
